About

Welcome to Exotic Water Gardens, where Phil Mikkelson handcrafts sculptural ecosystems from stone, water, and living plants. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind fusion of rock, epoxy, and subtle technology — living art you can hear, feel, and grow with.

These hydrokinetic sculptures recirculate water, mist the air, and nurture moss, ferns, and tiny wildlife — jewel orchids, java moss, string of pearls — that root and drift with the water over time. Each piece evolves alongside you — part living companion, part slow-burning fire: beautiful, meditative, and in need of a little care. Equal parts art and pet. (We'd call them pet rocks, but someone already has that trademarked.)

With a background in design and a love of nature's wildest textures, Phil builds waterfalls that feel smuggled in from another world — fragments of paradise, unearthed and reassembled. No two are alike.
